Install Guide – Rugged+

Device Provisioning

  1. The Rugged+ comes with a pre-installed SIM card and is provisioned on our GPS tracking platform.
  2. Each device is checked for connectivity prior to being delivered to a client site.
  3. The internal battery is switched off for transit and storage and will need to be switched on before installation:
    1. Open the device rear cover by unscrewing the four screws using a screwdriver

    2. With the device laid flat, move the small black switch from the OFF (right) to ON (left) position
  4. Close the rear cover by screwing the four screws in place using a screwdriver. Ensure the cover is sealed firmly. 
  5. The power extension cable will need to be attached to the device:
    1. Untighten the cap of the tracker.
    2. Plug the extension cable to make it a solid attachment
    3. Tighten the cap on the extension cable until it can’t be turned anymore.
WARNING: Please note the pins can be bent if the cable is not attached correctly.
NOTE: With a big capacity internal battery, the device can be used without the extension cable. Please make sure the cap on the device is tightened firmly to protect the pins.

Installation Tips

  1. Standard installation is the connection of:
    1. Power
    2. Ground
    3. Ignition source
    4. Ignition source
  2. The device should be mounted securely against a flat surface.
  3. There should be no metal above the device.
  4. The device should be mounted as far away from the radio and speakers as possible.
NOTE: Both the WHITE and BLUE wires should be connected to the same ignition source where available.

NOTE: Please refer to the vehicle or asset wiring information before wiring the device, to ensure that the correct wires are being connected.

Device Testing

On completion of the installation, please contact us on 1300 88 36 79 to allow us to check that the device is correctly functioning.

Please have the device IMEI number (printed on the device) and Customer Name ready.



Troubleshooting Tips

  1. Ensure the pins on the connector port of the device are not bent as per the below image:

  1. The device should be mounted securely against a flat surface.
  2. There should be no metal above the device.
  3. The device should be mounted as far away from the radio and speakers as possible.
  4. Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky (e.g. not inside of a shed or warehouse).
  5. If the vehicle/asset has isolation switches, ensure that these are in the appropriate position for the device to receive power.
